MCF is a contract facility used by the Contraception Research Branch to support research on the discovery, optimization, and development of male and female contraceptive agents.
This facility provides NICHD-supported researchers and other investigators with technology, infrastructure, etc., for drug discovery and optimization. MCF utilizes high-throughput screening assays of compound libraries to lead discoveries that inhibit validated male and female contraceptive targets. Once a lead is identified, a targeted library may be synthesized for further testing. MCF has capabilities for compound optimization, including modeling and structure biology, with iterative synthesis and biological testing for achieving highly specific and potent drug candidates.
