Location
6100 Executive Boulevard, 5th Floor Conference Room, Rockville, Maryland
Purpose
Fetal imaging (ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging [MRI]) is commonly used in obstetrics, but the evidence for use of these technologies during the initial exam and follow-up are limited. This conference aims to synthesize the available information regarding the roles of ultrasound and MRI in the diagnosis of fetal conditions and management of pregnancy.
Specifically this conference will:
- Synthesize the available information regarding indications for ultrasound in pregnancy as well as determine when and how often those ultrasounds will be performed.
- Integrate the available information on indications for MRI in pregnancy and their timing; address issues such as who should have an MRI/what are the indications for MRI, and when/how often should MRI be performed.
- Discuss recommendations on the need for additional imaging of obstetric complications as well as and in specific patient populations.
- Inform future research regarding these issues
