A Request for Applications (RFA) is proposed entitled “Assessing Human Placental Structure and Function Utilizing Existing Data Sets.” The proposed RFA will use the NIH Research Project (R01) and Exploratory/Developmental Research (R21) grant award mechanisms.
The purpose of the proposed initiative is to leverage existing human data sets and biological samples to assess placental development and function across pregnancy. Studies performed across pregnancy which are designed to answer specific research questions not directly related to placental assessment, may generate imaging data and biological samples that could be applied to an understanding of placental structure and function.
The proposed RFA will solicit applications aimed at the application of placental assessment approaches to existing human data sets and biological samples.
The objective of the RFA is to leverage existing data sets and biological samples to increase our understanding of human placental development and function across pregnancy.
