This printable 1-page handout goes with the Breastfeed to Reduce Your Baby's Risk of SIDS video (full length = 79 seconds), both from the NICHD-led Safe to Sleep(R) campaign. The video, at https://youtu.be/TwEU44FEGJU, and the handout note that breastfeeding reduces baby's risk for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and describe ways to practice safe infant sleep when breastfeeding. This packet, which includes a 1-day training guide and presentation, a 2-hour training guide a presentation, printed materials for additional training activities, and a Resources disk with additional training materials that facilitators can print themselves, helps facilitators train others about ways to reduce the risk for SIDS and other sleep-related causes of infant death among American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) babies. This item is part of the Healthy Native Babies Project, a collaboration among the NICHD, Native organizations, and representatives from five Northern Tier Areas: Aberdeen, Alaska, Billings, Bemidji, and Portland. The Project represents an outreach arm of the Safe to Sleep campaign (formerly the Back to Sleep campaign) focused on getting safe sleep messages into AI/AN communities.
