Elizabeth Clerkin, Ph.D., is a data science and sharing specialist in ODSS, where she works closely with her colleagues to ensure responsible sharing and use of research data across NICHD including applications of data linkage and artificial intelligence. She supports and advises on implementation of the NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy across the NICHD community as well as development of a federated NICHD Data Ecosystem. She also coordinates ODSS efforts on a project funded by NIH and the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Trust Fund, to develop a data governance metadata schema, which structures and standardizes rules from participant consent, policies, laws, and more, to streamline stakeholder decision-making about individual-level record linkage implementations.

Previously, Dr. Clerkin conducted research on early language learning and visual object recognition. Her experience includes using large-scale image and video datasets to investigate the statistical structure of infants’ early learning environments.

Dr. Clerkin received her bachelor’s and doctoral degrees, both in psychology, from Indiana University.
