Purpose

NICHD is an active participant in the NIH BRAIN initiative. This town hall marks the conclusion of the NIH BRAIN Initiative/DOE co-sponsored Brain Connectivity Workshop Series external link, which brought together researchers with broad expertise to discuss:

  • Leading-edge technologies in mapping complete neural circuits
  • Opportunities for advancing connectomics technologies
  • Challenges that need to be addressed to generate comprehensive maps of brain connectivity

Researchers from all disciplines with expertise or interest in mapping brain microconnectivity and related topics are invited to attend the town hall. Other key stakeholders are also encouraged to participate, including:

  • Researchers in academia and industry
  • Clinicians
  • Representatives from scientific societies and advocacy organizations
  • Interested members of the public

Leaders of the series will also release a white paper during this event that addresses the state of the art in brain connectomics, as well as the challenges and opportunities ahead.
