Purpose

Anil Sapru, M.D. and Michael A. Matthay, M.D., will review biomarker studies for acute respiratory distress syndrome in children and adults. They will also the discuss the possible use of biological markers to improve the design of clinical trials.

Dr. Sapru is a professor of pediatrics and the division chief of critical care at the UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital. Dr. Matthay is a professor of medicine and anesthesia at the University of California at San Francisco. He also is a senior associate at the Cardiovascular Research Institute.
