Purpose

As part of NIH’s Implementing a Maternal health and PRegnancy Outcomes Vision for Everyone (IMPROVE) initiative, NICHD is sponsoring the Connecting the Community for Maternal Health Challenge to encourage and reward nonprofit community-based or advocacy organizations to develop research capabilities and infrastructure to pursue maternal health research projects.

The challenge offers approximately $3 million in prizes, which will be distributed across multiple phases of the competition to organizations that successfully complete the objectives and requirements of each phase. In addition to cash prizes, participating organizations will receive training and mentoring in writing research proposals and assistance in building the infrastructure required for research activities. Registration closes September 29.

Three webinars are planned to introduce the challenge sponsors at NICHD, provide general guidance on proposal submission, and share the opportunities that participation in this challenge will provide.

Individuals who need reasonable accommodations to participate in these webinars should contact Andrew Ellis at andrew.ellis@fedtech.io or 201-919-1493 at least 5 days in advance.
