Purpose

NIH and the CGHE launched a new webinar series, Moving from Hepatitis Discovery to Elimination, to highlight ongoing research on viral hepatitis that can benefit elimination efforts, support translation of research into implementation, and identify additional research needs.

In the sixth webinar of this series, NICHD is hosting a virtual symposium to discuss efforts to eliminate perinatal transmission of HBV and HCV.

Topics for discussion during this symposium include:

  • Prevention of HBV and HCV perinatal transmission
  • Triple elimination of HBV, HIV, and syphilis
  • New recommendations for HCV screening in pregnancy
  • Antiviral prophylaxis for perinatal HBV and HCV
  • Breastfeeding for mothers with HBV and HCV

Individuals who need reasonable accommodations to participate in this activity should contact Lindsey Hiebert at lhiebert@taskforce.org at least 5 days in advance.
