Biosketch

Tara DeYampert, M.D., joined NICHD’s Division of Extramural Research (DER) as a program officer in January 2024. She is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist whose expertise allows her to support investigators within many of DER’s branches in their research on conditions, treatments, and innovations in maternal and gynecological health. 

Prior to joining NICHD, Dr. DeYampert worked for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as a physician instructor for women's health in rural locations. Her clinical expertise includes working for a hospital in the United Arab Emirates and many years in private practice while in Baltimore City and Howard County, Maryland. 

Dr. DeYampert earned her bachelor’s degree from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia. She earned her medical degree from Howard University and completed residency training at Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC. She is currently completing requirements for her M.P.H. at the University of Maryland.
