Biosketch

Christiane Robbins, M.P.H., M.S., became a scientific review officer (SRO) for SRB in 2018. She serves as the SRO for the Population Sciences (CHHD-W) study section. Additionally, she serves as the designated federal officer for the annual NICHD Training Grant Special Emphasis Review, the Loan Repayment Program, and other Special Emphasis Panel meetings. Her research expertise includes prostate cancer, cancer genetics, epidemiology, and infectious disease research.

Ms. Robbins began her NIH career in 1991 at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), where she conducted research in HIV-1 using the rabbit model. She then moved to the National Human Genome Research Institute, where she performed research on prostate cancer in African American men. In 2003, she left NIH to work as a staff scientist at the Translational Genomics Research Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. She returned to NIH in 2010 as a health program specialist with the Office of Training, Career Development, and Workforce Diversity at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. She went back to NIAID as a program officer for the Division of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases training grant portfolio before finally joining SRB at NICHD.

Ms. Robbins holds both a master’s degree in public health with a focus on epidemiology/infectious diseases and a master’s degree in biotechnology/bioinformatics from Johns Hopkins University. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national and international conferences.
