Biosketch

Magnus A. Azuine, Ph.D., M.P.H., M.Sc., became a scientific review officer for SRB in 2022.

Dr. Azuine started his federal career in 2009 with the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), first as a public health analyst and project officer with the Bureau of Health Professions, now known as the Bureau of Health Workforce. In 2012, he became a project officer for the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program, and in 2022, he became the project officer for the Public Health Scholarship Program in the Bureau of Health Workforce.

Prior to joining HRSA, Dr. Azuine worked as an assistant scientist with the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University; a research associate with the Departments of Medicine, Biochemistry, and Molecular Biology at the George Washington University; and a visiting scientist with the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Howard University.

Dr. Azuine received a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the Cancer Research Institute at the University of Bombay, India; a master’s degree in life sciences from Sardar Patel University in Anand, India; and a master’s degree in public health, with a concentration in global health, and a postgraduate certificate in HIV/AIDS studies from the George Washington University. He completed postdoctoral training in pharmaceutical biology from the Institute for Pharmacy at Freie University in Berlin, Germany.

Dr. Azuine has published extensively in scientific journals, presented in national and international conferences, and contributed to many books. He is also a recipient of the Humboldt Research Fellowship Award from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Bonn, Germany.
