Constantine A. Stratakis, M.D., D.Med.Sc.
Constantine A. Stratakis, M.D., D.Med.Sc., is the Scientific Director of the Division of Intramural Research (DIR) at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. Dr. Stratakis assumed the role in August 2011 after serving as the NICHD DIR Acting Director since July 1, 2009.
As the NICHD DIR's Scientific Director, Dr. Stratakis oversees all NICHD DIR research programs as well as several other research sections, technical units, and supporting offices associated with the Office of the Scientific Director (OSD). Dr. Stratakis continues to lead the Section on Endocrinology and Genetics within the Program in Developmental Endocrinology and Genetics.
The OSD encompasses NICHD DIR core facilities, management offices and branches, several research sections, and multiple clinical training programs. The support provided by each of the OSD units enables NICHD DIR investigators to conduct cutting-edge research efficiently and with limited technological and administrative barriers.
