As a federal agency, the NICHD is required to receive advice from various advisory committees, task forces, boards, and commissions to help the Institute active its goals. Advice from these entities is governed by the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA) (Public Law 92-463) and must be both objective and accessible to the public.

The NACHHD Council includes members from a variety of scientific fields, professions, and locations; members are nominated and approved in compliance with FACA regulations. For more information on FACA, visit http://www.gsa.gov/portal/category/21242.

The NACHHD Council advises the NICHD Director and other Institute leadership on issues related to the Institute’s mission and research.
