Caroline Signore, M.D., M.P.H., is the Acting NICHD Associate Director for Extramural Research and the Director of the Division of Extramural Research. In this role, she oversees the Institute’s extramural research program, which includes more than 3,100 projects, and serves as the principal advisor to the NICHD Director and Deputy Director on extramural scientific and policy issues. Dr. Signore was a postdoctoral fellow in the Epidemiology Branch who joined the Division of Intramural Population Health Research (then the Division of Epidemiology, Statistics, and Prevention Research) in 2004. She earned her medical degree from the University of Florida and her M.P.H. degree from George Washington University. She is interested in the identification of genetic, nutritional, and biochemical risk factors for birth defects and other pregnancy complications.
