Howard Levitas, PMP, PMI-RMP

Howard Levitas, PMP, PMI-RMP, became NICHD chief information officer (CIO) and chief of the NICHD Information Resources Management Branch in spring 2020. The team he leads ensures that effective, efficient, and secure information technology (IT) services and support are available to NICHD staff. His team oversees applications development, desktop support, IT asset management, IT security, network operations, and project management, among other duties.

Prior to joining NICHD, Mr. Levitas worked for the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), where he held several key leadership roles, including director of the Project Management Division, director of portfolio investment services delivery, and associate CIO. He also worked within the Office of the CIO for the International Trade Administration, where he served as director of product delivery, prior to joining NARA.

Mr. Levitas holds a master’s degree in information systems and a bachelor’s degree in management information systems from the University of Baltimore. He also has project management and risk management certifications from the Project Management Institute.
