Menachem Miodovnik, M.D., joined the NICHD in 2014 after spending 10 years as the chair of obstetrics and gynecology (ob/gyn) at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, Washington D.C. Currently, he is a project scientist for the Global Network for Women's and Children's Health Research and project scientist for the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Units Network in NICHD's Pregnancy and Perinatology Branch. In addition, he manages a portfolio of basic and clinical research grants.

Through the years, Dr. Miodovnik has been the recipient of federal and industry grants to fund his basic and clinical research. His work is published in nationally and internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals, and he often presents his research results at conventions of notable scientific societies. His research interests include medical and obstetrical complications of pregnancy with emphasis on gestational and pre-gestational diabetes.

Prior to moving to Washington D.C., Dr. Miodovnik was a professor at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York and served as the vice chairperson in the Department of Ob/Gyn at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center. He is board certified in ob/gyn and maternal-fetal medicine (MFM), and received his medical degree in ob/gyn from Hebrew University Hadassah Medical School in Jerusalem, Israel. He pursued postgraduate training in ob/gyn at Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and completed a fellowship in MFM at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
