Purpose
Neonatal encephalopathy occurs in 1 to 2 out of 1,000 births and can have devastating consequences and significant mortality. Progress has resulted from the advent of cooling techniques to treat encephalopathy, but there is continued need to refine therapies to reduce mortality and improve neurodevelopmental and medical outcomes.
The meeting will gather national and international experts in the field as well as junior investigators whose emerging careers are in an area relevant to neonatal encephalopathy and cerebral palsy (CP). Participants will:
- Review and develop standard definitions and data collection tools to facilitate research and clinical applications.
- Develop a research agenda for new studies in areas of scientific need for encephalopathy and CP.
- Develop a multi-disciplinary approach to encephalopathy and CP.
