Overview
The Chemical Synthesis Facility is one of three contracts used by the Contraception and Reproductive Health (CRH) Branch to support research on the identification and development of male and female contraceptive agents.
This facility provides NICHD-supported researchers and other investigators with drugs, chemicals, chemical intermediates, steroids, and optically pure and/or resolved unnatural amino acids that are either commercially unavailable or unduly expensive for contraceptive research and development.

The Chemical Synthesis Facility manufactures compounds identified as promising agents for male and female contraception and reproductive health. The Facility creates its agents using current good manufacturing practices and following all federal regulations. Steroids and other agents synthesized by the facility are used in clinical trials and other research.
