| Current and Archived Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs) in the Neurosciences The NICHD has a number of Active FOAs[related to the neurosciences], including Requests for Application (RFAs), Program Announcements (PAs and PARs), and Notices (NOT) that are currently open. Some of these opportunities are recurring, while others are offered one-time only. View a list of active neuroscience FOAs. The NICHD has been involved in a number of Archived FOAs related to neurosciences. These opportunities are no longer open, but can be used for the reference. Other NICHD and NIH Funding Information The NICHD offers a variety of mechanisms to support investigators interested in studying topics related to the neurosciences. Funding by NICHD provides general information about the funding process, including the types of funding mechanisms, how to apply for funding, the peer-review process, and funding guidelines. In addition, the NIH provides general grants information, including descriptions of funding processes and mechanisms, for those interested in applying for support. The NIH Office of Extramural Research Grants is an important resource with several pertinent links for NIH grant applicants.

Training and Support Opportunities The NICHD supports investigators at various levels of their careers, from graduate student through established investigator, including the new Pathway to Independence Award (K99/R00). (Visit the FAQs about K99/R00 for details.) For more information on these opportunities in the NICHD's extramural program, visit the Career Development and Training/Fellowship section of the NICHD Web site. For information about intramural program opportunities, visit the Research and Training Opportunities at the NIH Web site. NICHD and NIH Peer-Review Information The NICHD Division of Scientific Review (DSR) is responsible for a broad range of functions related to the scientific/technical review of grant applications for research and training, and contract proposals for research and development activities. The DSR reviews investigator-initiated applications, such as Career Development Awards (K01, K02, K08, K23, K24, K25, K99/R00), Small Grants (R03), Training Grants (T32, T35), Conference Grants (R13) and Program Project grants (P01). The Division also reviews grant applications and contract proposals received in response to requests for applications, letters of invitation, and requests for proposals. These grant applications and contract proposals are aimed at fostering research or training in areas of particular relevance to the mission of the Institute, including the neurosciences. To review grant applications or contract proposals, the DSR relies on several subcommittees of the NICHD Child Health and Human Development (CHHD) Initial Review Group (IRG) or, where appropriate, a Special Emphasis Panel, which is convened to provide specialized expertise in a specific area of science. The Center for Scientific Review (CSR) is responsible for reviewing the majority of investigator-initiated grant applications(R01s, R21s) submitted to NIH. The site includes information about the peer review process, Institutional Review Boards and their study sections, rosters, policies, etc. |
