How many people are affected by/at risk for reading disorders?

According to the International Dyslexia Association (IDA), 5% to 6% of students in the United States receive special educational services for a disability in reading and language processing.

The IDA estimates, however, that up to 20% of the population as a whole has some of the symptoms of reading disorders.1
