Interventions for Children With Attention and Reading Disorders (ICARD)
This study explores the relative effectiveness of treatments for children with both ADHD and significant reading difficulties (RD). The study evaluates attentional and word reading outcomes for students when provided with disorder-specific ADHD treatment, disorder-specific RD treatment, or the combination of ADHD and RD treatment.
Testing and Calibration of Non-Invasive Optical Imaging Technology for Functional Brain Imaging
Researchers are studying noninvasive functional near infrared (fNIR) imaging, which uses infrared light to detect changes in brain activity. The fNIR procedure may provide an alternative for examining the brain activity of individuals who cannot undergo functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), such as young children who are unable to cooperate with the fMRI procedure. Researchers will compare the results of fNIR and fMRI to determine if fNIR produces similarly accurate results.
