Bridging the Terminology Gap in Pediatrics: Developing an Action Plan to Support the Continuum from Clinic to Research

The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) and the Pediatric Electronic Health Record Data Sharing Network (PEDSNet), through support from the AHRQ Enhanced Registries program, convened a Pediatric Terminology Summit, which was held on Friday, September 21, 2012 in Bethesda, MD. The goal of this meeting was to bring together leaders from government, academia, industry, and professional organizations in the field of Pediatrics to organize a governance structure and prioritization mechanism to support coordination and communication across multiple pediatric terminology efforts. Neonatal Research Network Terminology Meeting

The meeting was a working session with the National Cancer Institute (NCI), Apelon, and Neonatal Research Network Terminology (NRNT) stakeholders, to finalize integration of NRNT into the NICHD Pediatric Terminology, and to discuss terminology governance.
NCS Metadata Repository Workshop

The goal of the meeting was to exchange knowledge and experiences in the use of metadata in the data lifecycle of studies, inform the development and population of the Metadata Repository (MDR) for the National Children’s Study (NCS), and promote connections and collaborations between metadata curators and users.
