Policy Guidelines Related to Submitting an Application

This section provides links to current policies related to preparing and submitting an application.

• NICHD Policy on Large Grants
  These policies apply to all grant mechanisms and all application types (including new, competing continuation, revised, and competing supplement applications), except those responding to an RFA.
• Revised Policy on the Acceptance for Review of Unsolicited Applications That Request $500,000 or More in Direct Costs
  Large grant applications requesting direct costs of $500,000 or more for any one year must seek agreement to accept assignment from IC staff at least 6 weeks prior to the anticipated submission.
• Allowability of Facilities and Administrative (F&A) Costs for Foreign and International Organizations
  NIH now provides limited F7A costs to foreign and international organizations.
• NIH Announces Revised Policy: Applications that Include Consortium/Contractual Facilities and Administrative Costs
  Applications that include a limitation on direct costs are to exclude from that limit the F&A costs requested by consortium participants.
• NIH Policy on Late Submission of Grant Applications
  NIH will consider accepting late applications for specific submission dates.
• Salary Limitation on Grants, Cooperative Agreements, and Contracts
  Executive level 1 salary level has a maximum of $180,000.
• Electronic Submission Process Now Available for Administrative Supplement Requests
  NIH announces two electronic processes for submitting administrative supplement requests.
• Research Performance Progress Report (RPPR)
  NIH implements the RPPR as a new module in the eRA Commons to replace other interim performance reporting formats.
