Biosketch:

Ekaterini Tsilou is a program officer in the Obstetric and Pediatric Pharmacology Branch, NICHD. Her portfolio includes studies organized and funded under the Best Pharmaceuticals for Children Act (BPCA). Since December 2010she has functioned as the program officer for the Specialized Centers for Research in Pediatric Developmental Pharmacology (RPDP).. Prior to joining the extramural NICHD, Dr. Tsilou was a staff clinician at the National Eye Institute (NEI), Ophthalmic Genetics and Visual Function Branch.

Dr. Tsilou completed her medical school training at the Athens University Medical School in Athens, Greece and then came to United States for her training. She completed a pediatric residency at Georgetown University and an ophthalmology residency at the University of Maryland school of Medicine followed by a fellowship in Ophthalmic Genetics at the NEI.. She was  a staff clinician at the NEI for over a decade.

Dr. Tsilou is a board-certified pediatrician and ophthalmologist and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Tsilou’s interests include ocular pharmaceuticals for infants and very young children, pharmacogenomics as well as treatment for inherited disorders of the eye, such as retinitis pigmentosa, Usher syndrome, macular dystrophies, albinism, and familial exudative vitreoretinopathy.
