Kara A. Michels is a postdoctoral Intramural Research Training Award fellow in the Epidemiology Branch. She works under the mentorship of Doctors Sunni Mumford and Edwina Yeung. She received her Ph.D. in epidemiology from Vanderbilt University, her M.P.H. from the University of Kentucky, and her B.A. in biology from Willamette University. Dr. Michels studies reproductive and perinatal health. The intersection of pharmacology, genetics/epigenetics, and pregnancy is of particular interest—as well as the unique ethical considerations and epidemiologic methods needed when designing studies in these areas.
