Biosketch:

Tuija Mannisto, M.D., Ph.D., is a postdoctoral fellow in the NIH Intramural Research Training Award program. She has completed her medical and doctoral training at the University of Oulu, Finland.

She received her doctorate degree in clinical epidemiology in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology with a subject “Maternal thyroid function during pregnancy. Effects on pregnancy, peri- and neonatal outcome and on later maternal health”.

Dr. Mannisto's main research interest is in women's health. She has focused on studying chronic diseases during pregnancy as well as pregnancy-related diseases (including hypertensive disorders) and estimating their short- and long-term consequenses on both the mother and the child.
