Institute Advisory Groups

As a federal agency, the NICHD is required to receive advice from various advisory committees, task forces, boards, and commissions to help the Institute achieve its goals. Advice from these entities is guided by the Federal Advisory Committee Act (Public Law 92-463) (PDF - 20 KB) and must be both objective and accessible to the public.

Board of Scientific Counselors
This group advises the NICHD Scientific Director and the Division of Intramural Research (DIR) on matters related to intramural research activities of the Institute. Visit http://dir.nichd.nih.gov/dirweb/bsc.html on the DIR Web site for the current roster of members.
National Advisory Child Health and Human Development (NACHHD) Council
This group is charged with advising, consulting with, and making recommendations to the NICHD Director on matters related to the research activities and functions of the Institute.
National Children’s Study Federal Advisory Committee
This group provides advice and recommendations to the NIH Director, the NICHD Director, and the director of the National Children’s Study on critical aspects of the Study.
National Advisory Board on Medical Rehabilitation Research (NABMRR)
This group advises the NIH Director, the NICHD Director, and the director of the National Center for Medical Rehabilitation Research (NCMRR) on matters and policies related to the NCMRR’s activities.
