Welcome to the ORSC Web site. The ORSC, a “virtual research core” housed within the NICHD Office of the Director, brings together obesity research and translational activities from across the NICHD.
The mission of the ORSC is to:
- Lead and promote a multilevel, integrative approach to childhood and maternal obesity and related chronic diseases by coalescing obesity research and translation activities across the NICHD;
- Serve as an advisory body to the whole of NICHD on future directions of obesity-related activities;
- Coordinate and facilitate the implementation of a Global Multilevel Platform to address childhood obesity by engaging and convening interested national and international organizations; and
- Enhance cross-disciplinary systems research on complex public health issues and serve as a resource for the research community on these topics.
For more details about the functions of the ORSC, see its Operational Features, or select one of the links on the left.
