Overview

Jack Yanovski's Section on Growth and Obesity studies metabolic and behavioral factors involved in body weight regulation and body composition during childhood. The Section is investigating the effects of several genetic mutations in human pediatric obesity and murine models. The Unit has also investigated the role played by brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in overweight children. Ongoing studies attempt to identify genetic abnormalities that predispose children to binge eating and related disorders.
