Attendees to this symposium will meet the following objectives:

  1. Have an overall understanding of the current status and future directions in medical rehabilitation engineering sciences and technology as they relate to mobility disorders.
  2. Learn current and future trends in the application of bioengineering and technology to benefit persons with disabilities.
  3. Learn the current and future application of biotechnology in the use of efferent signals & sensory feedback.
  4. Learn the current and future application of biotechnology in movement generation and control.
  5. Learn the current and future application of biotechnology in modeling and simulation regarding motion and balance.
  6. Learn the current and future application of biotechnology in the fields of prosthetics and assistive technologies.
  7. Have the opportunity to explore new collaborations that may shape the next generation of clinical therapeutics, assistive device design, and research tools.
