Pre-application Workshop:
| Date: |
March 27, 2002 |
| Time: |
9 a.m. - 5 p.m. |
| Location: |
National Institutes of Health
Neuroscience Research Center
Room D
6001 Executive Boulevard
Rockville, MD 20852 |
The MRDD Branch of NICHD will hold an all-day pre-application workshop for individuals interested in and intent upon responding to the recently issued Request for Applications, RFA-HD-02-009, "Fragile X Research Centers." Because the mechanism proposed for the Fragile X Research Center, the concept of a "Center within a Center," is novel, and because no site visits will be held in connection with the review of applications submitted in response to this RFA, interested parties are encouraged to attend this workshop.
- Workshop Content
Workshop presentations by NICHD staff will focus on such issues as application guidelines, policies, clarification of concepts, and review procedures. Questions from participants will be welcomed.
- Attendance
Seating capacity at the workshop is limited. Interested individuals who might appropriately attend include Mental Retardation and Developmental Disability Research Center Directors, proposed Fragile X Research Center Directors, and institutional administrative personnel from domestic and/or foreign institutions who contemplate collaborative participation in a Fragile X Research Center.
PLEASE NOTE: Attendance at the pre-application workshop is not a prerequisite for submitting an application in response to RFA-HD-02-009. A summary of the workshop discussion, as well as a list of questions and answers presented during the workshop will be posted on this site following the meeting.
- Logistics and Accommodations
Travel to the workshop, accommodations, and expenses are solely the responsibility of the attendee. A list of nearby hotels and directions to the Neuroscience Research Center will be provided upon request. The Neuroscience Research Center has dining facilities to accommodate attendees during breakfast, breaks, and lunch. Transportation to the Neuroscience Research Center will be the responsibility of the attendee.
- Security Issues
Due to heightened security measures at all NIH facilities, each attendee should be prepared to provide an institutional ID as well as any other requested form of identification (such as a driver's license or passport) to gain entrance to the workshop. Only individuals who appear on an advance list as identified participants in the pre-application workshop will be permitted access to the meeting.
- Notification of Intent to Participate
To help the MRDD Branch prepare to accommodate interested parties and to provide a list of participants to security officials at the Neuroscience Research Center prior to the workshop, intent to attend this workshop, including the names and institutional affiliations of all members of groups attending together, should be sent by email to Mary Lou Oster-Granite, Ph. D. at mo96o@nih.gov no later than March 1, 2002.
